Anna Nicole Smith Brings New Meaning to Nutso

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - Anna Nicole Smith Brings New Meaning To NutsoEven if the former glamour girl and her current man, long time attorney and friend Howard K. Stern, have both said that they can’t wait for the paternity test to be performed on baby
Dannielynn, they are now trying to do everything to push back the term.In December, a judge ordered Smith to bring her daughter to the US for a DNA test no later than January 23rd, so that a decision can be reached as to who is the real father of the child. Larry Birkead, a celebrity photographer Smith dated once, claims that he is the one who got her pregnant and that is why he is leaving the court to establish the facts via the paternity test. On the other hand, Stern’s story is exactly the same: he is the real father and, in order to make it more official, he signed his name on Dani’s birth certificate.

At the time the court order was made public, Anna responded from her newly purchased Bahamian pad by saying that they would surely comply, because that would be the perfect way to put the ordeal behind them and to finally move on. Now, a day before the date stipulated by the judge, she is again up to her old tricks, talking to her lawyers about pushing the term back.

It seems that the always inventive Smith has already come up with a legal loophole in the fact that the order has to be first stamped by a judge from the Bahamas (although, ironically, she wasn’t granted permanent residence there). The reasoning is simple: because she can’t travel with Dani all the way to L.A., the order of the judge has to receive a stamp of approval from a Bahamian one so that she can undertake the test from there. Logically, the technicians from the US lab appointed by the court can’t do this, because they don’t have work permits for the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, the former ‘Playboy’ bunny so familiar with all legal aspects is losing law suits, left and right. First, she sued another of her ex lovers, G. Thompson, whom she accused of illegally throwing her out of the house he had given her as a gift. A judge ruled yesterday that the waterfront mansion was not hers and that she had already lived in it for way too long.

Not even her own team of lawyers is happy with the way she is acting. A Bahamas law firm sued Smith yesterday for not paying her legal fees, summing up to $113,000. In order to get back at least some of what she owes them, the law firm froze Smith’s bank account until the matter is solved.

Wow, talk about drama! Who needs ‘The Young and the Restless’ when you have something that good as Anna Nicole Smith and her many legal ‘adventures’?!

Very interesting article from Softpedia. Anna can’t seem to stay out of the news!

Anna Nicole Smith Is Selling Her Baby

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

FromWhatIHeard.com - Anna Nicole Smith Is Selling Her Baby

At first glimpse, this article caught my attention, but it is not what it seems. Article is from Softpedia.

It seems that bad times are ahead for the former model and D-list celebrity Anna Nicole Smith. Rumor has it that both she and the man with whom she is sort of ‘married’ and who claims to
be the father of Dannielynn Hope are out of cash and that they’re desperate enough as to do anything to get their greedy hands on some.

After her son died by her hospital bed in the Bahamas and the investigation was concluded, Anna sold the footage of her giving birth to Dani to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, for which she apparently got somewhere in the range of $1-1.5 million.

But this was not the first time that she tried to make a profit off her ‘pain’: first, she auctioned the photos that showed Daniel within a couple of hours of passing away, with his little sister and Howard K. Stern for $200,000 and then she got married in the Bahamas… also for money. The photos taken during the non-binding ceremony were also put out on the market and ‘People’ Magazine purchased them for $1 million.

Now, a source told Jeannette Walls from MSNBC that Larry Birkhead, the other man who claims to be Dani’s father, is very upset after having learned that Smith is trying to sell personal photos and footage of the girl, so that she and Howard can pay for the new house they just moved into.

‘After she sold footage and photos of the birth to a TV show, she starting seeing that child as a cash cow. Howard K. Stern takes the pictures and they sell them to the highest bidder.’, the spy told the gossip columnist. However, Larry already found out about Anna’s devious plan and is planning to do his best to stop her from carrying it on.

‘I’m outraged that they’re trying to pimp my daughter. If Anna wants to sell pictures of herself, that’s one thing, but to conveniently put my daughter in every single photo to up the ante is sick and disgusting. And what’s even more disgusting is that someone would buy them because they are financially assisting someone who’s stockpiling money in an attempt to keep my child from me.’, he said during an interview taken this weekend.

Anna Nicole Smith was ordered by a judge, at Brikhead’s request, to submit her baby girl to a paternity test back in the US by January 23rd.

Dead or Alive Hotties Not Coming to US Theatres?

Saturday, January 13th, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - Dead or Alive Hotties not coming to US theatersLooks like Europeans can consider themselves lucky this time, Dead or Alive-wise. You know Corey Yuen’s film adaptation of the Dead or Alive series of video games, DOA: Dead of Alive, and if you live in Europe
you’ve got a chance to see this flick, because it ran in several European countries as of September 2006.Many criticized this movie, to such an extent that the producing company has decided not to bring it to American theaters. Kotaku has the word, and they claim that DOA: Dead or Alive will premiere straight on DVD, this April. Good news or bad news, it’s going to happen.

The latest game of the series is Dead of Alive 4, released on Xbox 360. It was released back in late 2005 and features 22 playable characters, not all women. The storyline of the game focuses on Helena, the young woman taking over the mantle of DOATEC, as it second leader.

In addition, some side games to the DOA franchise have been released, one of them being Dead or Alive: Extreme 2, a “sports” game featuring hot girls in very skimpy bikinis. It is also available on Xbox 360, but I haven’t heard much about it since its late 2006 release.

Very interesting article from Softpedia. I can’t believe this, I was looking forward to this movie!

Nintendo Wii Going for over $1000 in Stores

Monday, January 8th, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - Nintendo Wii Going for US $1034 in StoresApparently, some are trying to make some serious money off poor, defenseless gamers. No, this time we are not dealing with eBay auctions, but with a full-pledged retailer. TheKuwaiti reports that after charging 530KD (US$ 1833) for grey-market PS3s
and selling Nintendo Wiisw for 299KD (US$ 1034), four time the official price, they are now selling Wii controllers for some over the top prices. The regular Wii controller goes for 45KD (US$ 155) and another 45KD (US$ 155) is charged for the Nunchuck. The official price recommended by Nintendo is of US$ 39.99 for the controller and US$ 19.99 for the Nunchuck. If you missed your math class, I must inform you that the price charged by Virgin Megastore (in Kuwait) is nine times higher. You might say that it cam prove to be a hassle bringing in gaming consoles into countries like Kuwait, but to go as far as increasing the price nine times is absolutely outrageous.

You could say that a four player Wii Tennis match in Kuwait is a pretty rare thing, but I wouldn’t shed many tears for them if I were you, because Kuwait is not exactly what you would call a poor country. If you didn’t know, Kuwait holds about 10% of the world’s oil reserves, and oil exports account for nearly half of the countries GDP (Gross Domestic Product). So it’s safe to say that Kuwait is an oil-based country and a rich one, but that doesn’t give retailers the right to overcharge gamers.

Very interesting article from Softpedia. Some retailers are just scandelous. Shame on them.

How to Add OEM Logo and Information to Your Windows

Monday, January 8th, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - How to Add OEM Logo and Information to Your WindowsIf you bought your computer from an important retailer you might have observed that when you select Properties for “My Computer” a logo and some information about that retailer is present.By default, Windows do not provides any such information under the My Computer properties window unless it is edited by the retailer. So what is the OEM? OEM is the acronym for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Original equipment manufacturer is a company that builds products or components which are used in products sold by another company.

Does your Windows show such information? If not, wouldn’t it be cool to add your own information and logo? Yes, I know it would. But how can it be done because Microsoft did not supply any option regarding this issue? We will do a little tweak. The information does not need to be added to the registry. It is stored in an .INI file. You just need to create such a file.

Open the notepad to create a new file. Inside place something similar to this:

[General]Manufacturer=Softpedia Computer

Model=TEST

[Support Information]Line1=Free downloads encyclopedia

Line2=

Line3=http://www.softpedia.com

Line4=

Line5=Windows, Games, Drivers, Handheld, Mac, Linux, Mobile, News

Line6=

You can add any information to those lines. It’s your option.

Once you created this file save it in the format OEMINFO.INI and place it into the following folder: WindowsSystem32.

Next step is to create a logo. The logo must be in BMP format with 256 colors. Create/edit an image and save it OEMLOGO.BMP inside the above mentioned folder: WindowsSystem32.

Note that the logo won’t work alone without the OEMINFO file. So it’s mandatory to have both files placed inside the System32 folder. On the other hand, OEMINFO.INI can work without the logo, which is optional.

Very interesting little tutorial from Softpedia. Hope it helps everyone!

Sword Swollowing, A Risky Job

Friday, January 5th, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - Sword Swollowing. a risky jobI found a very interesting article on Softpedia about sword swollowing and how dangerous it can be. Check it out:Sword swallowing is indeed a dangerous job.

And costly, too.

An investigation showed that sword swallowers are more likely to sustain an injury, such as a perforation of the oesophagus or pharynx if they are distracted or are using multiple or unusual swords.

SSAI (Sword Swallowers’ Association International) recognize only those sword swallowers who can swallow a non-retractable solid steel blade at least two centimeters wide and 38 centimeters long.

English Medical literature cites only two case reports of injury resulting from sword swallowing, despite the obvious danger. Forty-six SSAI members took part in the study investigating the side-effects of sword swallowing.

19 had experienced sore throats whilst learning, many had suffered lower chest pain following some performances, and six had suffered perforation of the pharynx and oesophagus, one other was told a sword had almost touched the heart.

The study revealed that these injuries occurred either when swallowers used multiple or unusual swords, or when they were distracted.

One swallower lacerated his pharynx when trying to swallow a curved sabre whilst another suffered lacerations after being distracted by a ‘misbehaving’ macaw on his shoulder.

The average age of the sword swallowers involved in the study was 31, most were self-taught and had learned the skill at an average age of 25 years, with nine learning the skill as teenagers.

There was no link between height and the length of sword swallowed; the longest sword swallowed was 60 centimeters.

As three members of SSAI paid hospitalization bills varying from £12,000 – £37,000 (23,000 – 70,000 US dollars), this is indeed a costly occupation!

Is Britney Spears already in rehab?

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007
FromWhatIHeard.com - Is Britney Spears already in rehab?Three days passed since Britney Spears collapsed in the middle of the VIP area at Pure club in Las Vegas and she was nowhere to be seen. Naturally, such a long absence from the party
scene, especially when it comes from wild girl Brit Brit, can mean only one thing: she went/was sent to rehab. At least, that’s what some people seem to believe. Let’s take things slowly and see how they might have got to this conclusion in the first place. Over the past months Britney Spears became the favorite celebrity of all times for the paparazzi, who chased her all over town and chronicled her many nights out (and pantyless adventures).

Her reputation as one of the most innocent figures in showbiz was forever tarnished, and from pop princess status she was rapidly demoted to that of pop tart and trash queen. Her name was the one that topped NBC’s list of worst role models of 2006, beating even Paris Hilton to the throne. And you know it’s bad when people point a finger at you and say that Paris is the good gal!

Anyway, the whole situation climaxed during the New Year’s Eve party Britney was supposed to host at Pure in Sin City. Instead of doing her duty, soon after ringing in the new year, Spears passed away/collapsed and had to be taken straight to her hotel room. Some say she was too drunk to stand on her feet. Others and her manager, Larry Rudolph, claim that she felt to tired to stay until the party ended and that she specifically asked to be taken home to get some rest.

As it is usual with such public incidents, rumors abound and maybe we’ll never get to hear the actual true account of what happened. Anyway, ‘Life & Style Weekly’ has another bomb to drop on us: according to a story that now runs in it, Britney was admitted into rehab on New Year’s Day, meaning, within hours after what went down at Pure.

The mag claims the star quietly checked herself into Sanctuary in Arizona for ‘exhaustion’. But a close ‘friend’ of Britney’s provides all the dirt behind said ‘exhaustion’. ‘With these celebrities, “exhaustion” sometimes means something else and a little rest at a spa sometimes actually translates into something a little more serious. It’s just been heartbreaking for her parents to watch Britney on this downward spiral. It’s so sad’, the source is quoted as saying.

Very interesting article from Softpedia.
