Paris Hilton caught driving on suspended license

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California (AP) — Paris Hilton was cited for driving on a suspended license after police stopped her for speeding and driving without her headlights on late Tuesday, authorities said.

The hotel heiress and star of “The Simple Life” reality series was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard in her blue Bentley Continental GTC at 11 p.m., said Sgt. Duane Allen Jr. of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

She was on her way home from buying DVDs at Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood after spending the day at home for a photo shoot, her publicist, Elliot Mintz, said.

Hilton, 26, was issued a ticket for driving on a suspended license, a misdemeanor, and released. A court date was not immediately set.

She was alone and there was no sign of drinking or drugs, Allen said.

Mintz said Hilton didn’t realize the car’s headlights weren’t on because she had just left a parking structure that was brightly lit. She was told by police she was stopped for not having the headlights turned on. Speeding was not mentioned, Mintz said.

“When she called me, she asked if her license was suspended,” Mintz said early Wednesday. “If that’s the case, she and I are unaware of it.”

Hilton was picked up by a friend and taken home after the incident. Her car was impounded.

In January, Hilton pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving stemming from her September 7 arrest in Hollywood. She was sentenced to 36 months’ probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. That case was reduced from an original charge of driving under the influence.

Man, these little rich girls cant stay out of trouble.

Motorola Loses Ridiculous Lawsuit

Although all the time the big fishes seem to win all the big battles all over the world today, I witnessed something worthy to be written down on paper and hanged in a frame on one of the walls of my apartment. Motorola, the big a** mobile phone manufacturer we all know, lost the lawsuit it filed so it can forcedly take the Internet domain motorazr.com from its rightful owner.

Motorola’s complaint said the domain name is very similar to one of
its previously registered trademarks, that the owners of the domain don’t have any legitimate interests or rights to register the domain in the first place and that they have been using it in “bad faith”.

The nice part begins now: the current owners of motorazr.com registered this domain in July 2004, whereas Motorola registered the MOTORAZR mark in June 2005. The WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) board asked Motorola to present itself with proof that they have been using the MOTORAZR moniker before the actual registration but Motorola, being as big of a company as it is, was unable (or unwilling) to do so.

Therefore, the board issued a declaration saying that “[Motorola has given] no explanation of why the evidence of [their] real and actual use of MOTORAZR is so thin, why a year passed from product launch to trademark application, and why [they] failed to respond to the [WIPO] Panel’s express invitation to provide further information”.

Next thing they did was to deny Motorola’s allegations that the domain was designed to confuse the readers to visit some kind of advertising website. The ending of it all was very short and sudden, breaking Motorola’s complaint into small pieces: “Please find attached the full text of the decision issued on February 15, 2007 by the Administrative Panel in the above-referenced case. The Administrative Panel’s finding is as follows: For all the foregoing reasons, the Complaint is denied. Yours sincerely, Gabriele Bahr Case Manager”.

Ending conclusion? All the big companies should stop the lawsuit rampage going on lately and think twice before suing anyone if they don’t have enough proofs to back up their claims. Whatever their size and their monetary power, it seems there still are chances you can win a dispute with them in court.

Kansas City Teacher Suspended For Alledgedly Choking Student

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City teacher has been suspended for allegedly doing something that would terrify any parent.Cheri Pennel is accused of choking six-year-old Amir Henderson at Border Star Elementary School.The first grader was putting chairs on top of the desk at the end of the school day, but one chair kept falling off.

His parents said the teacher thought their son was doing it on purpose.

That’s when, the boy says, she started choking him.

Amir’s father, Langa Henderson, told KCTV5 News, “There’s nothing, in my mind, that my son could do that would warrant putting your hands on him.”

Cynthia Wheeler-Linden, KCMO School District, said, “There is no justification. Those who have children understand it can be overwhelming, but that’s when it’s time to back off.”

Pennel was cited with a municipal charge of mistreatment and abuse of a child.

Britney Spears Shaved Her Head?!

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) — Britney Spears appeared in a tattoo parlor in the San Fernando Valley with her head shaved completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed the newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sits Friday night for a new tattoo — a pair of red and pink lips.

“She just wanted something real small on her wrist, something dainty,” Max Gott, the tattoo artist at Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks, told the TV station. “She got some cute little lips on her wrist.” (Watch a bald Britney Spears in the tattoo parlor Video)

Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.

“She seemed fine,” Snell said. “I didn’t really notice [the hairdo] at first, she had a hood on when she showed up.”

Larry Rudolph, Spears’ manager, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Syndicated entertainment TV show “Extra” first reported that Spears had entered a treatment facility. Celebrity Web site TMZ.com then said the singer had entered a treatment center but had checked out one day later. Neither revealed their sources.

People magazine’s Web site, citing “a source,” said Spears had gone in and out of rehab, and identified the facility as Eric Clapton’s Crossroads center in Antigua, in the Caribbean.

“Access Hollywood” then said the reports weren’t true, but didn’t cite a source.

A woman who answered the phone at Crossroads told The Associated Press that she couldn’t confirm or deny anyone’s presence at the facility.

Angelique Uram, a Spears fan who stood on the tattoo parlor’s sidewalk for Friday night’s spectacle, was aghast at the singer’s new look.

“We could see her in the mirror, and her head is completely shaved,” she told KABC. “It looks terrible.”

Police arrived to control the crowd and helped Spears’ bodyguards guide her into a waiting SUV, her head covered by a hooded sweatshirt.
