This is just a quick rant i had to write, because it’s not the first time it has crossed my mind.
When you register for a forum, or website, or any other kind of service, many of them have a confirmation code you have to enter to prove youre an actual person and not a robot, right?
Okay, well explain this to me.. why does it have the following option:
If you are visually impaired or cannot otherwise read this code, please contact the administrator for help.
Okay, granted, sometimes the image does not load and you have to hit refresh, I get that. But some websites even go as far as having the little handicapped wheelchair logo on it and they say “if you are blind or otherwise visually impaired, please click to hear the code read out loud to you.”
I’m sorry, but if I’m blind or I cant see well enough to read that giant image, what makes you think im going to be able to read anything else, such as directions on what to do if I cant see giant images?
I told my blind friend to sign up for a forum and you know what he told me? He told me he’s blind and blind people don’t read forums.
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
*This is not meant to mock or otherwise slander the blind or handicapped, I just thought it was a bit humorous.
