Online Auto Insurance Quotes

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Too many people are paying way too much money for their auto insurance they currently have. The smartest thing to do is get auto insurance quotes from several, or many, different insurance companies before purchasing a policy. I would never call just one and accept the rate they gave me, without getting other auto insurance quotes first. There are so many different insurance companies. Sometimes, by getting several auto insurance quotes, you will be quoted different amounts it would cost you. You could save a lot of money by pricing around and by getting more than just one quote from one company. I call every few years and get auto insurance quotes to see if there are any other companies that can give me the same coverage I have now for a less amount of money.

Barcode Scanners For eBay Listings

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

When I first started using eBay as a means of supplementary income, it was a daunting task and it literally took all day to list a large number of items such as CDs and DVDs. Typing the title of every CD and looking up the pre-filled information might seem like a quick and easy way to list items, but it still takes quite a bit of time. A couple of years ago I started using a handheld barcode scanner that would automatically look up the CD or DVD information right from the barcode. I was able to list items much, much quicker, which enabled me to make money faster and easier than ever before. The first barcode scanner I used was a cheap bargain brand scanner and it had a few problems. Since then I have upgraded several times and I am now using the Symbol LS4278. This particular scanner does cost quite a bit more than you might expect to pay for something as simple as listing items on eBay, but, for someone who lists several hundred items at a time, it is really worth the investment. I highly recommend a barcode scanner as a means of listing items on eBay. If you haven’t ever used one, pick up a cheap barcode scanner and give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Finding The Best Buy

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Many people are trying to find the best buy for the product they are looking for. Instead of using so much gas, going from store to store, they often look on the internet first. You can go to sites to search for different items or just browse and you’ll be surprised to what you’ll find at a much cheaper price than you’ve seen it sold for in stores. I always check on the internet first to find the Best Buy I can get something for. It is very interesting how stores can sell it for a high price but when you search for it on the internet, there is no difference in the product except for the price. I do not know why I did not do this several years ago, instead of the past year. I could have really saved a lot of money by doing so.

Buying a Nascar Jacket

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Hey have you seen those really awesome Nascar jackets that are on the market now. I picked up one at the store for myself last week and my girlfriend loved it! So last night I couldn’t sleep so I decided to turn on the tv and do some channel surfing and I saw that QVC had the jackets for women. My girlfriend would totally love them. There is a really cute stand up collar that I know would look awesome on my girl and not to mention the zipped feature at the front of the jacket. There is even an embroidered Dale Earnhardt signature on it and since she is a fan of Dale she would be stoked over this. I can’t wait for it to be delivered to the house.

Finding The Perfect TV Stand

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart the other day and looked at some of their TV stands. Most of them seemed pretty overpriced compared to the prices you can find them for online, even after paying shipping charges. I’m trying to find a new TV stand for our living room, but I’m having a hard time deciding which one to buy. I’d like to find one that matches our furniture if possible, but I really like the looks of a few of them that don’t match. Oh well. The search continues.

Phillips DVP-5990 and Western Digital WDTV HD

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Phillips DVP-5990 DVD Player with HDMI 1080p Upconversion and USB Video PlaybackAbout 6 months ago a friend of mine purchased a new Samsung HDTV. He got it for a pretty good price and I’m pretty impressed with the picture quality. We don’t really watch BluRay movies on it, but his Phillips DVD player (model DVP-5990) with 1080p upconversion via HDMI cable and USB video playback looks very nice on it. We compared playing DVDs with the standard RCA cables and the HDMI cables and there is a very noticeable difference when watching a movie with upconversion. I didn’t really think it would really play movies back much clearer with the HDMI cable, but I love it. I would definitely recommend the Phillips DVP-5990 to anyone who is looking for a great DVD player that has 1080p upconversion and also plays DivX/XviD video formats. We hooked up a few different USB devices, such as a standard USB flash drive, an external Western Digital 1TB MyBook, a 16gb SDHC card with a USB card reader, and a 500gb Western Digital Passport drive, and everything played flawlessly. The only thing you have to do is be sure your USB device is formatted to FAT32 instead of NTFS file system. Videos also loaded quite a bit faster from USB, compared to load times from CD and DVD media. I own the same Phillips DVD player. You can even download custom firmware to load on the Phillips DVP-5990 to change how the menus look, add your own splash screen while the player is loading and add more functionality to the player, such as skipping to a specific time while watching DivX videos. The Phillips DVP-5992 is the same DVD player, but it is silver instead of black.

Western Digital WD TV Live HD Media Player with 1080p and Network SupportAnother video player I would recommend is the Western Digital WDTV Live HD player with network support. You can find it for about $99 and it plays nearly every video format you can think of. It even plays HD .mkv x264 videos, which I have been using for my home videos, to save space and video quality.

Area Rugs

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I love my wooden floors but I just couldn’t resist the area rug that I saw at the department store over the weekend. This rug had some great patterns which go along well with my current living room color scheme. I probably paid around $50 for the rug and it is stain and fade resistant which means less work for me. The area rug comes with a matching mat which I’m also thinking about getting by next payday.

Buying Diamonds

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

One of the reasons I hate going shopping with my fiancé is that she always encourages me to spend extra money that I just don’t have. I mean who would have thought that a casual visit to the department store in search of pillows and scented candles could have resulted in me racking up my credit card buying her diamonds. It amazes me how good she has gotten at this game. There was actually a time in our relationship when she was too shy to approach me for things that she wanted. I think that day leaving the store the gleam on her face was brighter than that diamond.

Horse Supplies

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

One of my high school buddies invited me to his ranch to see and take a ride on his horses. I get to see him tend to them while I was there and boy does he have his work cut out for him. He had all of those horse supplies laying around for grooming and cleaning and I even helped him spray the horses down with a special shampoo that keeps mites and fungus away. Those horses were dirty and I was really impressed with the shampoo especially since we didn’t have to scrub the dirt away, they practically fell off with just a rinse.
