I recently picked up a new SD card to use with my Philips DVP-5990 DVD player with a USB 2.0 port. You can plug in just about any USB mass storage device, such as external hard drives, USB thumb drives, SD cards with USB card readers, and so on. It has become my favorite new media player. I’ve been using a Transcend 16GB SDHC card (SD High Capacity) with Transcend compact card reader combo. It’s so nice being able to play videos I edit and that sort of thing right from USB devices without having to burn the video onto a DVD-R first. I recommend the DVP-5990 to anyone looking for a great and affordable USB media player. It’s also a 1080p upconverting DVD player.
I have a couple different DVD players that connect to my plasma tv through HDMI, but the TV only has 1 HDMI port for some reason. The other day I picked up an HDMI splitter to try out and it works great. I can hook up both of my Philips 1080P upconverting players and my Xbox 360 without having to unplug one device to use another.

Lately I have been purchasing all of my CD-R and DVD-R media through a website called SuperMediaStore.com. They have my favorite brands such as Ritek, Philips, Verbatim and TDK for prices that other websites just can’t compete with. They even have cheap HP toners. Usually when I place an order for my blank CD’s and DVD’s, I order in bulk so I don’t have to order again for a while. This website is perfect for ordering in bulk. You can order a 600 bulk pack of Philips DVD-R discs for under $140. They usually have better deals than anyplace I’ve seen and I will continue to order from them as long as they keep up with the great prices.
