Philips DVP-5990 With USB 2.0

I recently picked up a new SD card to use with my Philips DVP-5990 DVD player with a USB 2.0 port. You can plug in just about any USB mass storage device, such as external hard drives, USB thumb drives, SD cards with USB card readers, and so on. It has become my favorite new media player. I’ve been using a Transcend 16GB SDHC card (SD High Capacity) with Transcend compact card reader combo. It’s so nice being able to play videos I edit and that sort of thing right from USB devices without having to burn the video onto a DVD-R first. I recommend the DVP-5990 to anyone looking for a great and affordable USB media player. It’s also a 1080p upconverting DVD player.

Thinking About Buying A PDA

Lots of people at my office carry PDAs to keep track of their schedules, use them for navigation while driving and that sort of thing. One of the other office managers asked if I wanted to buy his old PDA from him. It wasn’t even that old, he’s just one of those people who always have to have the newest version of something as soon as it comes out. I’m thinking about buying it from him. He only wanted $100 for it and it’s goes for over $400 brand new. My girlfriend would probably kill me if I wasted the money on a PDA, but I kind of enjoyed playing around with it.

Creative Zen Rocks

Today I won a new 8gb micro SD card during a raffle at my office. My digital camera uses normal SD cards, so I sold the micro SD card that I won to a friend of mine. One of the guys won a brand new 16gb Creative Zen. I have a 4gb Creative Zen with a 16gb SDHC card in it and I absolutely love it. I haven’t had any kind of trouble with it and it’s probably my favorite gadget. You can find the 4gb model for under $100. I pretty much keep the internal 4gb memory filled with music that I rip from my CD collection and I fill the 16gb SDHC card with videos and things like that. It comes in really handy if I’m flying somewhere or any other occasion where I don’t have anything to do but sit there. The battery life is about 20 hours or so for music playback and 5 hours or so for video playback. You can’t beat that.

Finishing My Media Computer

I am about to give one of my computers a much needed memory upgrade. The computer that I use for everyday stuff like surfing the web and that sort of thing currently has 2gb of DDR PC3200 ram. The one that I’m going to upgrade still only has 256mb. I’m really trying to turn the other computer into my new media station. I do a lot of video editing, graphics, web design and that sort of thing, so I really need a computer that can keep up with everything.

Upgrading Some of Our Computers

The other office manager’s have asked me to take care of upgrading some of the computer’s in our main office. So far they’ve asked me to upgrade the ram, hard drives and monitors. I think I’m going to make a bulk order of some Dell memory from 4AllMemory.com and order the rest of the stuff from a local computer distributor that I always go through.

Self Assessment Software

My office recently started using some self assessment software. I really don’t know what it’s used for but everyone seems to think it’s going to be pretty important. I’ve been looking online trying to find out exactly what self assessment software is used for but I still can’t get a clear explination of what it is. I’m going to have to talk with some of the other managers and see if they know.

My New Panasonic PV-GS320 Video Camera

About a week and a half ago I picked up a new video camera from Best Buy. I checked out reviews for about ten different cameras under five hundred bucks and I ended up choosing the Panasonic PV-GS320. It’s a 3CCD video camera and picks up colors like no other video camera I’ve seen for under $500. Circuit City had the GS320 on sale for $369.99, but their warranty price and service is junk. I went to Best Buy and had them do a price match for Circuit City’s price and I got a 4 year warranty from Best Buy for $99. So I got a nice 3CCD video camera, a tall tripod, a carrying case and a 4 year warranty for $540 with tax and all. That’s really the best buy I’ve seen on this camera other than buying it from eBay. The video quality from the camera is even better than I ever expected. I can’t wait until we get some sun light so I can really take it out and see what it’s made of.

Linksys Wireless N VPN Router

Last week I had to replace my old wireless router. I had the thing for about two and a half years and it just wasnt functioning that great anymore. It was a Linksys wireless B router. I upgraded to the newest Linksys Wireless N VPN 802.11n router model WRVS4400N. This new 300mbps router is very fast when I need to transfer data between computers on my home network.  I could not be happier with it.

Hear Your Music

I know that you spent really good money on your CD, and that you want to be able to listen to it while you’re working out, but sometimes the machines at the gym are louder than a construction zone. Thankfully, Quiet Headphones has a great selection of noise cancelling headphones and earbuds. With these you can hear the music that keeps you motivated to go that extra mile and not the guy on the treadmill next to you getting ready to have a coronary. It’s the only way I can think of to listen to my music, and once you try it out I’m sure you’ll agree.
