I Can’t Believe It’s Not Fat Free

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter sprayAbout three months ago I began dieting and I was looking for a healthier alternative to butter and margarine. I started browsing through the butter selection at my local grocery store and those bottles of liquid spray butters caught my attention. Initially I just assumed that they were very high in fat, cholesterol and calories, but after checking them out (“Parkay” and “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” to be specific) both products claimed to be fat free, calorie free and cholesterol free. Could this be true?, I thought to myself. Surely if they are indeed fat free and have no calories, they won’t compare to the taste that you get out of regular solid butter and margarine. I decided that I would give them a try, as both brands were on sale for a dollar per bottle.

The next day I was hungry for a little mid-day snack, so I decided to fix a can of green beans. Normally, I would just eat the green beans plain, to keep the calories to a minimal amount. I decided that today I would try putting a little liquid butter spray on the green beans to give them a little flavor for a change. I gave the bottle a few pumps and lightly coated the bowl of green beans with the butter spray. After taking the first bite, I loved it. I had finally found the perfect fat free topping to transform the taste of my dull, plain diet foods.

After trying the butter spray for that first time, I was hooked. I was using the stuff on nearly everything that I fixed, and I was using quite a bit more than just a few pumps. You can’t even imagine the taste of green beans smothered in butter if you haven’t tried it. Every time I fixed green beans, I was actually removing the spray cap and pouring the liquid butter over the green beans, coating the entire bowl with a thick layer of buttery goodness.

This went on for about two months. I was using the butter at least two or three times a week, and not in moderation. My main snack since starting the diet was always green beans. Green beans contain about 60 calories per can, making it the perfect snack. You can eat about as many as you want and still lose weight. I was very content eating green beans with my new-found, great-tasting fat free addition. Until about 3 weeks ago.

I had a doctors appointment on March 12th. The appointment was just to get some bloodParkay butter spray work ordered, to check my cholesterol and that sort of thing. While I was talking to my doctor, I mentioned that I had been using the great tasting butter spray and how it’s fat free and contains no calories. My doctor was very quick to tell me that he has seen several patients fall for this “fat free” butter spray scam. He began to inform me that a regular size bottle of the spray butter actually contains around 90 grams of fat and that it was anything but low in calories. He told me that the serving size listed on the bottle was about one spray worth of the butter, which might indeed contain no fat or calories, due to the minuscule amount of the butter that you’re actually using in 1 spray. This is why the product is so misleading. People look at the nutritional facts of the butter sprays and see that everything has a value of zero. Zero fat, zero calories, zero cholesterol, zero everything.

Everyone assumes that it truly is a fat free alternative to using butter and margarine, when in fact, it’s just as bad or even worse, considering that people really over use it and think that it’s going to help with weight loss. I’m just glad that I stopped using it when I did. I probably consumed around four to five bottles of it over the span of 2 months time. Someone’s health could really be affected by not knowing that it’s just as bad as eating regular butter or margarine. I personally recommended it to several friends and members of my family after I tried it.

I don’t believe that they should be allowed to advertise these products as containing zero fat and zero calories. They say very bold right on the front of the bottle, “0 Calories”. This would be like a beer company marketing their product as being safe to constantly over-indulge in, without having to worry about the adverse health affects associated with it. It would be no different than a cigarette company telling people that their cigarette is safer than other cigarettes, because they only expect you to take one puff, rather than smoking the entire cigarette.

I hope this will reach a few people who have been duped into using these so-called fat free butter sprays. If you know someone who uses products like these, thinking they contain zero fat or calories, please be sure that they actually research the products before using them. I am sure that other companies try and get by with the same kind of trickery.

If you know of another product that is advertised as being healthy or fat free, don’t hesitate to post a comment and let me know about it. I will check it out if I am able to and write something about it.

Google Screwed Me

About a week ago I received an email from Google. The email was to inform me that my Adsense account has been disabled due to “invalid clicks”. I applied for my account to be reinstated and it was re-enabled a few hours ago today. Upon logging into my Adsense account I noticed that my earnings were reset to zero. I checked the Adsense help forums and I am not the only one this has happened to. I don’t make much from the ads on my website, barely enough to even cover hosting and domain costs. I feel that this is 100% unfair and that Google is just targeting random people to avoid having to pay. Either that or Google has a real asshole working for them who just decided to flag a bunch of people’s accounts at random just for the hell of it.

Did this happen to you? If so, reply in this thread on the Adsense help forum (click here).

Splurging on The Third Date

My girlfriend’s best friend recently started dating some new rich guy. He gave her a Blancpain watch worth over nine thousand dollars on their third date. This guy is really making me look bad! She really seems to like the guy, though. Imagine that. I hope she actually stays with this one and doesnt run when things start to get a little serious.

The Miss Howard Stern Show

Andrea from The Miss Howard Stern ShowI’ve always been a huge fan of Howard Stern. I’ve probably got a hundred VHS tapes from recording the shows back on the E! channel. I subscribed to Sirius Satellite Radio for a while just to listen to Howard’s show, but after a while I had to choose between Sirius and the Howard TV OnDemand programming and I chose Howard TV. They could update the OnDemand content alot more frequently than they currently do, but I really enjoy it none the less. The only thing I find completely useless about the programming is this new “Miss Howard Stern Show” that they premiered back in October. Andrea aka “Miss Howard Stern” (pictured above) is one of the most annoying, useless, spoiled whores I’ve ever seen. She’s kind of hot, but the moment she opens her mouth you forget about anything that makes her remotely attractive. Once in a while when there’s nothing new on Howard TV I will go to the Miss Howard Stern section and try to watch an episode. As soon as the episode starts and I hear her speak, I can’t bare to keep watching.

The Miss Howard Stern show actually has great production. It really shows that if the Stern team wanted to create something original and worth watching, they could definitely do it. Too bad the talent is being wasted on something as annoying as Andrea. I would pay good money just to see someone walk up and sucker punch this girl in the throat. Oh yes, it’s that serious.

I just thought that I would share this with everyone.

Here’s a clip for anyone who thinks I’m exaggerating:

Bunk Beds

My girlfriend and I recently stayed for the weekend at her aunts house. They had no extra beds, so we had to sleep in my girlfriends cousin’s bunk beds. We both thought it was pretty hilarious. I was on the top bunk and she was on the bottom bunk. We would have shared, but they were just too small. I almost fell out of bed twice. I can’t imagine what that would have felt like.

Yet Another eBay and Craigslist Scammer

Last week I was browsing through craigslist to see if i could find a reasonably priced vehicle in my area. I came across a silver 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe for right under $3,000. The price seemed very nice so I contacted the owner via the craigslist sale email address.

The person replied a few days later with the following email message:

Hi there and sorry for the late reply.

The car is still available for sale. This is a 2001 Honda Civic Ex Coupe, 1.7L 4-CYL VTEC, 5-SPEED Manual Transmission, Silver, 112000 MILES, VIN 1HGEM21951L088189.

It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident.

Here you can find more pictures with the car:

I’m an US Air Force Lieutenant currently stationed in UK. And the car is here with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was never permanently registered here, the car is still registered in the US.

The car is for sale locally as well, but there are slim chances of this to happen. First of all this is a US model car, with the steering wheel on the left side, as opposed to a UK model, that has the steering wheel on the right side. And second, in order to be able to register this car here in UK the buyer would have to pay very high import/custom taxes that will double the price. So I decided to sell the car back in the US.

As I’m unable to travel in the near future and I don’t have anyone back home to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay.

So how this actually works? Simple: the buyer sends the payment to eBay and they hold the money until the car is delivered; I ship the car to US; I get my money only after the buyer receives the car and makes sure everything is as agreed. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it’s the right way to do this.

The final price is $2,999 including shipping from Europe to the US and delivery to your home address.

So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you and have a great day,
Lt. Joel Miller

At first it seemed like a very good deal. A great car for an even greater price. I even got a Carfax check on it and everything looked good.

I then replied to the person and asked for more details regarding exactly how it works, going through eBay and all. They replied with pretty much the same information that was in their first email. It seemed a bit vague, so I started getting a little suspicious.

I told him I would give it a shot and I went ahead and emailed him my address and contact information. Shortly after sending him my information, I received 2 emails, both appearing to be from eBay Motors. The emails looked very legit and included my information, a picture of the car and the sellers information.

The thing I noticed, however, was the email addressed they were sent from. They werent sent from eBay.com or any subdomain of eBay.com. The emails were sent from protection-ebaymotors.net. I forwarded the emails to eBay’s spoof department and just as I suspected, the guy is a scammer. He almost got me for $3,000 dollars.

There is no telling how many people actually fall for scams like this. Posting a car or other item that is worth far more than your asking price, just to get alot of replies, making it easy to scam unsuspecting internet shoppers such as myself.

If you receive any emails from protection-ebaymotors.net or any other email address that you suspect may be fraudulent, forward the emails to spoof@ebay.com. They will review the email and tell you if it’s a legit eBay email or if its fake.

> Email this story to a friend so that they don’t fall victim to this same kind of scam!

Its Ridiculous

A friend of mine was at a drive-thru window recently and a sign fell and hit his car, leaving a very noticable dent and some paint damage. The owner of the restaurant will not take any responsibility in the matter and is refusing to pay for the damages to my friends car. That’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I’m trying to talk my friend into taking them to small claims court over it.

Upgrading Website Scripts: Big Mistake

I recently upgraded a few of my websites with the latest version of a few different scripts, and well, I went back a few minutes after the upgrades and manually downgraded it all back to the previous versions. The scripts supposedly had better functions and “security fixes”, but what the upgrades actually did was garble half of my old posts and other things. I should have known better than to believe the “fixes” would actually fix anything.

I just felt like ranting about this for a minute, as I wasted alot of my time fixing it all.

Loud Car Stereos - Whats The Big Deal?

I was at a stop light yesterday and I saw this guy, probably in his early 20’s with some pretty loud music in his car, bass, ect. The man in the car in front of him got out of his car, walked back to the kid and told the kid to turn his music down and informed the kid that there is a law against loud music and he would call the police. As soon as the man walked back to his car, the kid turned his music back on. The man then proceeded to pick up his cell phone, to show the kid he would call the police. This was at a green light by the way, holding up lots of cars. Well, the man got back into his vehicle, started going, then changed lanes and pulled over, as though he was trying to let the kid pass him so he could get the lisence plate number. The kid didn’t pass him, though. The kid stopped right next to him and said “we can stay stopped here all day…” and the man gave up and pulled out.

Some people really need to lighten up when it comes to loud music. Its really a petty thing to complain about. Trains and motorcycles are much louder than 99% of any car stereo systems i have ever heard. Not to mention the man had no idea who the kid was. The kid could have pulled out a gun or got out of his car and whooped the guy.

I just wanted to post this, as I found it pretty interesting.
